Funny to think what was popular back then would you get moaned at now.
Current player base does not even know how popular 2k3, RPM or RPMPRO was.
Remember when Zombies gametype appeared? It was played a lot in RPM h&s server if you put it online on the server now for more than 15 minutes they will start to moan and go to spec or disconnect.
You probably left sof2 at the best time back then because it only went downhill after 2015
The MS shut down last year so there is not even a official MS anymore up.
We are using the MS now from Boe.
At one time we had this RPMPRO nostalgic events which was pretty fun.. but we could barely even get a 2v2. At the beginning it was going pretty nice and sometimes we did a 4v4.
Im curious if you can manage to get 10 people to play. I just know Mcl Jenno Power me Yusuf (liberty maybe dno if he lives) will join. Thats 6 of us with you its 7.
If you manage to do it we can even start the very original RPM 2k3 with H&S on it.
Do you still have the old RPM 2k3 files? That would be bonkers lol. I can remember you'd be only able to run those fucking files on servers you bought from 2k3servers.com, the old damn red and black flash website.
For sure I remember Zombies. For me personally, I always enjoyed H&S more. I loved having it as a minigame, though. Back then when RPM decided to fully switch to Zombies, welp, wasn't a big fan of it either, but was WAY more fun than those small modded maps which were empty otherwise.
Oh hell I even forgot I made stuff like a box generator where you could add multiple boxes for "stairs" in modded maps and such. So good memories.
Yeah I kinda miss the time of that H&S. I don't game that much anymore, however I feel like EVERY game has to be competitive today. There is barely any games where you can just sit yourself onto a server like Hide&Seek, do nothing but enjoy the game and the time and clock off after. I did enjoy the competitive side of SOF2 as well with primarily CTF on mp_kam2, but H&S was always special in that regard.
Well Masterserver shutting down is always an issue, but I mean thats fine. I saw on YouTube that there is a guy rebuilding SOF2 in Unreal Engine which is sick, he has pretty good progress already after months of work from what you can see. Maybe we see a revival at one point. Unfortunately, also job wise, I got stuck in web development and the lowest level I wen't was C#, after seeing what Janno did here with the cross-version game is crazy to me. I hope at some day somebody brings out a game like SOF2. I know that the copyright was transferred back from raven to the original owner, however I'm not sure who that is.
Maybe its worth for the sake of it just emailing them and asking if there is a way to license the assets. Who knows.
For shooters these days I feel like you need some kind of matchmaking. Just servers isn't the way to go anymore today (which is also sad in terms of community building, which you can kinda see in games like Rainbow and CS). It's less about enjoying a game together, but more about winning and fucking the other side up. If there was a matchmaking service, for at least even 2v2 available, it would probably revive it (a bit).

lol , I actually remember those time we played zombies and was very pumped back in the days but now only kam1 is the memory of the game only. Actually I wish maps like jor1 kam2 etc… gonna be back as the map cycle how it was before as hns but u never know
Old mapcycle was the best! A lot of variety. I can remember the funniest times on mp_shop, col10 I believe (tunnels), air1/2, mp_hos1, mp_hk1 the columbian maps in general (4 or 6) and many many more... Even if I remember now, the naming of the maps is so much cooler than today. I dont know why. Fucking CS with "Lets play mirage". Imagine it would be mp_mor1 (As its based on a morroco map xd)
